Monolith
We woke up, you asked me to get in the car. “I want to take you somewhere”, was all you said. I didn’t ask questions, just put on good walking shoes and obliged.
The rain had subsided for a brief moment. Everything was still damp, and the leaves and grass had that post-rain iridiscence to them.
We spend so much of our time these days absorbed in the content of our smart phones. They consume our thoughts, as fingers move in the familiar scroll. I find it hard to pay attention the way I used to. It takes ages to finish reading a book. This is a reminder to go outside, take a walk.
